Marvel kicks off 2015 in a small way with Ant Man #1

Big time hero, small time scale.

Scott Lang has never been the world’s best super hero. Heck, most people don’t even think he’s been the best Ant-Man – and the last guy created Ultron and joined the Masters of Evil, so that’s really saying something. But all that’s about to change when the Superior Iron Man calls up Scott with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! This is his chance to turn it all around. New city. New outlook. New Scott. Nothing is going to stop the astonishing Ant-Man! You know, until something ruins it all. Don’t miss the blockbuster first chapter in his new ongoing series when ANT-MAN #1 hits comic shops this January!

Well, old Scott isn’t doing that bad really when you consider that he’s the main character in a new Ant Man big screen adaptation set for 2015, and this new solo book. It’s the first solo Ant Man comic to hit stands in a while actually, and Ant Man #1 really does represent a fresh start for the size-changing hero, who hasn’t been in the spotlight at all in recent years.

Whether or not audiences will take to the new book (or the film for that matter, although that’s got a better shot) is something of a mystery. Personally, I’ve never had an attachment to the Ant Man character and never seen him as more than a bit player in the larger Avengers universe, no matter who was behind the helmet, so I’ll be crossing fingers that this one presents a compelling reason to keep reading month after month.

Ant Man#1 hits the stands form the team of Nick Spencer and Ramon Rosanas, this coming January.
