Put this one in the ‘rumor’ file for now as there’s little to go on, but it looks like there might be an HD re-release of one of the most popular Grand Theft Auto’s of all time on the way. Update: You can take it out of the rumor file now.
Okay. So… there’s a bit of weirdness surrounding this one, so you really need to take it with a grain of salt. Still though, if true this could definitely be a cool one. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas might be on the way to consoles, specifically the Xbox One/360 and/or the PS4/PS3, in the near future. A list of 33 achievements for the game has been unearthed by website XboxAchievements.com and it looks like the game has been pulled from both the Xbox Live and PSN marketplaces.
MCV (industry site) also points out that it’s been a decade since the game had originally seen release on the PlayStation 2, so if there was ever going to be an ‘anniversary’ edition, now’d be the time. Stay tuned for more on this one, and don’t forget that GTAV is headed to the Xbox One and the PS4 next month, and will hit on November 18th.
UPDATE: Looks like this one’s an Xbox 360 exclusive for right now. The game is being reported (by Polygon) to be on the ay in short order, and will arrive on October 26th. What’s new in it? Well, basically 720p graphics and an improved draw-distance. As far as further details go, any old saves that you might have will not work here and the title will be sold officially as a Games on Demand game. You can expect this nostalgic trip to San Andreas to cost you $14.99 USD.
