NYCC 2014: Mattel reveals 2014/1st quarter 2015 MOTUC figures

Mattel has taken the wraps off the first 2015 Masters of the Universe Classics figures and shown the rest of what’s coming in 2014 ahead of the big NYCC con.

If you’re not aware, Mattel won’t be attending the 2014 edition of the NYCC this week. Why is still something of a question with some of the staff that I ran into at the booth at SDCC this past July saying it’s due to budgetary constraints and the company itself remaining somewhat mysterious about the whole thing. The company has been a mainstay of both big cons for years and years and has been at NYCC in a major way as fan back as I can remember the con being in existence, so it really is kind of a bummer that they won’t be there.

Just because they won’t have a major booth on the show floor though, doesn’t mean there aren’t reveals to talk about though. Have a look at the two trailers below and you’ll see not only what’s coming over the next few months, but also a peek at what’s on tap for quarter 1, 2015. Enjoy!

Okay, so there’s LOTS to like in there if you’re a MOTUC fan. For starters, Ninjor, Oo-Lar, Tung Lashor, and Gwildor look fan-freaking-tastic. That two pack with He-Man and King Hsss is pretty great as well, though I can imagine there are more than a few fans out there who might be crying foul about not getting the ‘snake’ torso for Hsss in the box.

It basically means that, if you don’t have a subscription, you’re going to have to buy the two pack and a mystery figure some time during the year to complete your 200x King Hsss. Now, if that mystery figure is fellow (and final) Snake-Man Squeeze, I doubt there’ll be too many folks out there who’ll be all that upset. If it’s not, well that’s probably going to be more bad word of mouth for Matty. Honestly, the company doesn’t deserve half the flack that it gets from fans as I see it, but followings can be incredibly fickle, especially the more passionate ones.

So we’ll see what happens, but either way, the remainder of 2014 and early 2015 are going to be pretty nice for Masters of the Universe fans. Just try and not harp on the missing snake torso.
