With Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze well on its way next month, Nintendo is giving us a few last minute samples of what’s to come.
Again we see the jello jungle that was previously revealed not too long ago. An enemy penguin is bouncing on one of the jello cubes just a few feet away from Donkey Kong and Diddy. The boss of world 5, the jello jungle, makes an appearance yet again. This polar bear wields a rather nasty looking weapon that has spikes protruding on the bottom of it. Another silhouette stage shows up in the batch of screenshots, taking a the usual approach you’d see in Donkey Kong Country Returns. The kong that you control and enemies are completely black, save for a feature or two that shows up in color. The foreground appears dark too, with only the background showing up in color. This stage is another jungle, most likely apart of the first world.
Cranky Kong gets a healthy dose of exposure, as he is shown in the silhouette stage as well as an autumn themed forest. His ability to bounce on top of spikes without taking damage comes in handy in parts such as the spiky pit in the autumn forest. Finally, there’s the last world, Donkey Kong Island which has been frozen over by the vikings that DK must face in a final showdown. This particular stage looks rather challenging, with its myriad of hazards and enemies reinforced with plenty of steel. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze hits shelves February 21st.
