The international sensation is finally here! Marvel is pleased to present your first look at MS. MARVEL #1, the soon-to-be runaway hit from G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona! You’ve seen her in headlines around the world—now, prepare to experience the brand-new MS. MARVEL as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm. When Kamala Khan acquires incredible new abilities from the Inhuman Terrigen Mists, an extraordinary hero is born! But not even superpowers can prepare her for the pressures and pitfalls of being 16-years-old. Don’t miss Kamala’s first groundbreaking adventure as a timeless legend is reborn this February in MS. MARVEL #1!

Ms. Marvel has been knocking around the Marvel Universe for a long time now. In terms of classic characters, she might be little quieter of a presence than others, but she’s right up there with some of the greats. With the ‘actual’ Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers now moved onto the all-new guise of Captain Marvel, there was most definitely a void left in the heroic roster. A void that’s now been filled with a ‘victim’ of the Terrigen Mists- Kamala Khan.

Khan has indeed made some splashes since her announcement as a successor to the Danvers version of the character since she’s only one of a handful of Middle-Eastern superheroes in the comic realm. I actually can only think of one other (DC’s most current Green Lantern Simon Baz) although I do believe there are a few more. In any event, that’s a huge section of the global populace who’ve been woefully underrepresented in comics (among other places) and it’s pretty cool to see Ms. Khan becoming Ms. Marvel.

It’s also pretty cool to see the Inhuman’s super-powering Terrigen Mists starting to have an effect on the Marvel Universe’s heroic landscape. Having someone exposed to the Mists actually take up the place of such a huge character is a great indication of where all this might be headed- and I dig it big time. The potential for all-new heroes and villains bests even the mutant section of Marvel’s catalog and there’s a ton of possibilities for the future that has to bring a big smile to pretty much any comic fan’s face.

The new book will be hitting stands on February 5th from Marvel and the creative team of G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona. You might want to add a copy to your pull-list now- I have a feeling they’re going to go fast.
