SDCC: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu Ray detailed

Star Trek Into Darkness treks into your living room this September from Paramount Pictures.

Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures new Star Trek time line continues in Star Trek Into Darkness as they introduce one of the biggest villains that Starfleet and the crew of the Enterprise has ever faced – the super-soldier known as Khan. Played by Benedict Cumberbatch (of Sherlock fame), Khan is every bit the threat in Into Darkness that he is in the standard Trek universe where he was played by Ricardo Montalban.

I’m a big time fan of both the original and The Next Generation time periods in Trek, and while JJ Abrams vision of the universe that Gene Roddenberry created is definitely different than what long time fans might be used to- it’s also pretty awesome.

As for the DVD/Blu Ray edition(s) of the film, even Abrams is impressed by the presentation that his company, Bad Robot, was able to craft. Shot on Red Epic cameras and entirely in house at Bad Robot, the features on the discs offer a “uniquely intimate perspective of the filmmakers’ process.”

“I’m excited for viewers at home to check out Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray and DVD,” said J.J. Abrams. “They did a great job and I’m thrilled with how everything looks and sounds. We also have some really fun behind-the-scenes special features that we shot on the Red and created entirely in-house at Bad Robot. They really look amazing and unlike anything I’ve seen on DVD or Blu-ray before.” Abrams added “I hope fans enjoy seeing the process that went into making the movie and the truly amazing work of our most spectacular cast and crew.”
