The first appearance of Ninjak in the original Valiant universe (from the ’90s) is getting the ‘Valiant Masters’ graphic novel treatment. Take a sneak peek at the book, post jump.
Slicing into the then-emerging Valiant universe back in 1994, Ninjak was one of my favorite books at the time and one of the standouts from the fledgling company.
Colin King — sophisticated British playboy by day, elite super-spy by night! Codenamed Ninjak, King is gifted with a brilliant mind and lethal training in the world’s most dangerous fighting techniques. Both will be put to the ultimate test as he is drawn into a globe-spanning mission to apprehend Dr. Silk, mastermind of the WEBNET terror network, before the mysterious weapon known as “Black Water” goes online. From the British Isles to the land of the Rising Sun, Ninjak will leave an indelible imprint on the Valiant Universe — or die trying.
Although Valiant Comics made a pretty nice comeback this past Summer, this collected edition isn’t from any of those books. This is pure ’90s comic splash and collects the Black Water storyline which encompasses Ninjak issues #1-6, #0, and #00. The volume features the excellent pencils of Joe Quesada on both the covers and the interior work. And even cooler- sketches and ‘process artwork’ right from the Valiant vault are in there too.
Look for Valiant Masters: Ninjak volume 1 – Black Water on store shelves on February 27th.
