The Batman is almost here, and with it comes what Warner Bros is calling “the most robust Batman film product collection in over a decade”.
The Bat is back
Whatever you might think of its finer points, The Batman is looking like it might be the next big comic book film. The movie is decidedly dark in tone, with a reimagining of The Riddler that looks… not like The Riddler. Instead, this Eddie Nashton is looking more like a deranged psychopath than ever before, in any medium. Then there’s the Dark Knight himself.
Much like with Batman Begins, this is a younger version of Bruce Wayne than we see in most movies or on TV. He’s also looking more brutal than most of the Batman portrayals that Warner Bros has produced. Definitely not a bad thing.
Along with the hero and villain, Catwoman will also feature prominently, as will The Penguin. Both look pretty great, pulling directly from the comics as inspiration. In the case of Catwoman, the character looks yanked right from Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One.
And with the movie set to finally arrive in theaters on March 4th, you better believe there’ll be a cavalcade of merchandise. Purchaseables will include LEGO sets, action figures, Funko Pop!s, watches, clothing, and even cookies.
