Shadowgate opens its doors on Steam

The tough-as-nails remake of the classic NES title Shadowgate has arrived for PC gamers.

Not one for the faint of heart, Shadowgate is a remake of the 1987 original with all the bells and whistles that you’d expect. You’ll find new graphics and music, as well as updated and all-new puzzles for you to solve between being horribly killed by the beasties and horrors that call the living castle home.

Although the game is more or less a new experience, you’ll still find plenty of nods to the classic title that (depending on how old you are) you might remember from the golden age of gaming.

“This is the ultimate version of Shadowgate that we’ve been envisioning for nearly 30 years! The game features tons of new puzzles to solve, a hugely expanded Castle Shadowgate, and gorgeous hand-painted graphics,” said Karl Roelofs, Design Director with Zojoi. “There are plenty of nods to the original version, like the NES-inspired orchestral tracks and pixelated transitions, so fans of the MacVenture and NES versions will instantly recognize this as the ultimate successor to the classic. This is a huge moment for the team!”

Shadowgate is available right now on Steam for the Mac and PC, and can currently be had for 10% off the permanent asking price of $19.99 USD.
