Oblivion Remastered launching on Switch 2 this summer

The rumors are true, as the epic fantasy remaster is coming to the Switch 2. Look for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered this August.

Portable Oblivion

First released last year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered received fairly universal acclaim from fantasy and role-playing fans. The title re-presented the 2006 original, which was itself a massive hit in the Xbox 360/PS3 era, but with a graphical bump. At the time however, publisher Bethesda skipped past the just-launched Switch 2 console.

If you’re a Switch 2 player though, and you’ve been waiting for a copy to make the leap, you’re set to get your wish. That was just revealed today, with Bethesda taking the wraps off of what’ll be an August 2026 launch. Partnering with developer Virtuos, this fresh port will look to serve up Oblivion Remastered with all the trimmings.

New features, same quest

While this release will be set to deliver the same version of Oblivion Remastered that we saw in 2025, it will nonetheless offer some console-specific features. This is the Switch 2 after all, so there are a few bells and whistles that you don’t find elsewhere. The most obvious of those would be both left and right joy-con 2 mouse control. That’s kind of assumed at this point when you’re talking about a first-person game pro Switch 2, but it’s still nice to see.

Right there along with the alt-input mode as well, will be use of motion controls and the console’s touch screen. Just what you’ll be able to do with those options however, we don’t know. Stay tuned for more on that in the future.

That’s not all for now though, as fans looking to take the game on the go will find 900p support for the console’s handheld mode. Gaming on your TV, while docked? Well, then you’ll be getting the full 1080p. That’s plus the fact that both of those modes of play will include DLSS as well as 30fps.

As hinted at above too, this is the full experience. Included with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will be the base game, plus The Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions. Oh, and for those wincing at the idea of a Key Cart, forget it. This one’s actually on the cartridge, though it looks like you’ll have to download the expansions. Not too shabby.

Look for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered to arrive for the Switch 2 on August 11th, 2026. Check out the official site for more in the meantime.
