With talent from The Witcher III and Cyberpunk 2077 behind it, Rebel Wolves debuts Dawnwalker

Relatively new studio Rebel Wolves has debuted with a bang, as the vampiric action RPG Blood of the Dawnwalker gets a first-look.

Things will be different now

So here’s a killer game debut to warm up your January, as the studio known as Rebel Wolves has made a smashing first appearance. Before we get into the game that is Blood of the Dawnwalker though, we’d be remiss if we didn’t make a few comments about the studio in question.

While Rebel Wolves is new, and this game reveal is its first, it’s not comprised of industry newbies. With Bandai Namco as a publisher and headed up by Robert Murzynowski, the studio has brought together some of the talent behind gigantic titles like The Witcher III and Cyberpunk 2077. That level of skill is fairly evident too, with Blood of the Dawnwalker, a dark horror/fantasy tale that stars a recently turned vamp.

The game takes place in 14th century Europe, as war rages and the Plague encroaches, resulting in a world where vampires (and other creeps) can finally emerge from their dark hiding places.

According to Rebel Wolves, players will play as Coen in what’s a role-playing adventure with some heavy ‘choice’ mechanics. Coen is the young man whose brother to the plague afflicted girl in the trailer, and is a Dawnwalker. Essentially that seems to mean he’s some kind of hybrid of man and vampire. Yes, he can walk during the day, but that’s not all as he’s also very much in conflict as he battles between saving his own soul and giving in to the blood-drinker he’s becoming.

We can’t wait to hear and see more about Blood of the Dawnwalker, which doesn’t have a release date just yet. Expect to see much more on the game though, as it tumbles towards launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
