A prequel to the original Daymare, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle brings classic survival-horror action to consoles and PC today.
It’s like a nightmare, but brighter (actually, not brighter)
An underground facility, manmade terrors lurking around every corner, and more than a few environmentally-based puzzles. Does that sound familiar? Well, it’s probably not the series you’re thinking of, as we’re talking about the latest entry under the “Daymare” heading.
Italian developer Invaders Studio’s love-letter to the survival-horror genre, the Daymare series first debuted with Daymare: 1998, and did so in a time when games like it weren’t en vogue. While that’s changed a bit in the years since, Daymare has not.
The new title presents the same flavor of blood-soaked horror, but notably was co-written by Italian director and writer, Fabio Guaglione. If you don’t know his work, he penned (and directed) the film “Mine”, and wrote movies “My Name is Vendetta” and “Ride”.
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle launches digitally across the boards today, but has also made its way to a physical launch for PlayStation platforms. So if you have a PS4 or PS5, you’ve got some choices.
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is a prequel to the critically acclaimed Daymare: 1998. It follows Dalila Reyes, a special agent in the Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search (H.A.D.E.S.) unit as she investigates a sprawling, sinister military research facility buried deep underground. Dalila’s goal is uncovering the truth behind the horrors in the labyrinthine facility, if she can survive long enough to complete her mission. Along with mind-bending environmental puzzles around every turn, she’ll face blood-curdling monstrosities with only death on their mind – and who aren’t willing to stay dead.
