Time for some good old fashioned adventuring with Modus and Crackshell’s Hammerwatch II. It’s officially available for the PC.
Magic missile
From developer Crackshell, Hammerwatch II is both visually impressive and retro in feel. It kind of toes the line, though it might skew a little more to the ‘modern’ side of things, given the beautiful visuals. That said, if you’re a fan of titles like Gauntlet, this is a game you should at least take a gander at.
Journey through Hammer Island, the Fallowfields and the dark mountainous regions of Blackbarrow, all created in the signature Hammerwatch pixelated art style. Build a custom Herian Hero and choose between five distinct character classes: Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard and Warlock before customizing your appearance and leveling up to unlock powerful new abilities and skills.
Modus Games press release
Hammerwatch II is out now for the PC, and along with the base game includes a full level editor. According to publisher Modus, the game supports “a fully moddable world”. Players can seemingly do almost anything they like, crafting their own adventures, complete with original maps and even new stories that are “unlike anything found in the base game of Hammerwatch II”.
