Crash Bandicoot 4 finally comes to Steam next week (it’s about time)

Released on consoles two long years ago, Activision’s excellent return for Crash Bandicoot is finally coming to Steam. He hits the platform next week.

Crashing the party

It’s kind of hard to believe Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time hit consoles two years ago. Then again, everything from 2020 to present is kind of a blur, so maybe it isn’t hard to believe.

Crash 4 though, was one game not to be forgotten in any form. It was an excellent return for the series, which had been gone from the video game landscape for ages until the arrival of the Crash trilogy in 2019. That little set of remakes paved the way for what was the first true sequel to the PSOne classic, Crash Bandicoot: Warped. No, forget all those other Crash titles, the official lineage goes Warped to It’s About Time. That’s it.

And again, it’s a good thing it does, because Crash 4 kept to a level of excellence that none of the fill-in Crash games did. It’s a terrific title that successfully brought one of the 90s best ‘mascot’ characters back to the forefront of gaming.

While the title had since made its way to the Switch and current-gen systems, it hadn’t appeared on Steam. True he was on the PC, by way of Battle.Net, but it’s Valve’s platform that’s the big fan-favorite. And so prospective players who might’ve been reluctant to pick the game up on Blizzard’s storefront should now fear no longer. Well, they can “fear no longer” as of next week anyway.

The port of the game will bring Crash, Coco, and all their enemies and pals to Steam on October 18th. As a little side-note, we’ve also seen Modern Warfare II announced for Steam this week, so Activision’s return to the shop is seemingly proceeding full steam ahead.
