DC’s Free Comic Book day to include Superman, the Absolute U, and all-ages tales

While the slate isn’t all that deep, DC Comics’ FCBD 2025 is nonetheless setting up to be an important one for “All In” and the Absolute U.

So are you in?

If you’re wondering, “All In” is DC Comics’ latest initiative in the company’s mainline universe. It’s so-far covered a whole bunch of titles in that lineup, and will also include the forthcoming Superman Unlimited. An ongoing series that’ll be debuting later this year, Superman Unlimited will hail from Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque, and include a story that’s going to not only shake-up life for the Kryptonians on Earth, but also the DCU in general.

Before it arrives in late May (of this year) however, it’s set to have its own ‘zero issue’ story in DC’s Free Comic Book Day offering. DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition will be loaded up with a ten page lead-in for Superman Unlimited, from Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque. But DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition isn’t going to be a straight forward comic. Nope, it’s a flip-book.

That’s meaning that fans will be able to ‘flip’ it over and find another story on the reverse side. In this case, that story is centered on the publisher’s popular new Absolute Universe, from Jeff Lemire, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Stefano Nesi.

First up in DC’s FCBD flipbook, the core-line DC Universe soars into Superman action with the dazzling debut of superstar writer Dan Slott alongside acclaimed artist Rafael Albuquerque and colorist Marcelo Maiolo! In this special “zero issue” installment of the forthcoming Superman Unlimited ongoing series, you will witness the prelude to the biggest Superman comic book adventure of the year, as well as an ominous new threat from the heavens that will change the course of Kryptonian life on planet Earth as we know it!

Then, on the flip side of DC’s FCBD flipbook, DC’s Absolute Universe expands in a new story by Jeff Lemire, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Stefano Nesi. Dark forces begin to gather in the shadows… forces that have been waiting a very long time to shape events and seize control. All the while, a mysterious figure watches—but who is this powerful new character, and what do they want with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the emerging heroes?

Warner Bros Discovery press release

Fans can expect to find the DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition in participating comics shops on May 3rd, 2025. If you miss out or would just like a gussied up edition, there’ll also be a version that you can buy. That’d be a foil variant that’ll be priced in at $4.99 USD, from Rafael Albuquerque, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi, and Frank Martin.

All ages fun

Along with the more traditional superhero fare that you see above, DC Comics is planning a set of additional FCBD titles, with Superman’s Good Guy Gang and Kanga-U: Tests and Tournaments. The two freebies will preview upcoming graphic novels under the same names, which’ll be hitting later this summer.

Though the sneak peeks will be out along with the DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition on May 3rd, younger fans will be able to pick up a copy of Kanga-U: Tests and Tournaments on June 3rd, and Superman’s Good Guy Gang on July 1st.
