The Borderlands movie is coming home already, landing this month

Yes, it’s true. Basically in the midst of a theatrical run, Borderlands is already coming home, and it’s happening in just a few days.

Might work

Are you a Borderlands fan, who was turned off by the bad word of mouth on the big screen adaptation that debuted on August 9th? If you were at all paying attention, then you probably were, since almost all of the press and fan-reaction has been to the negative. So is it a bad movie? We can’t really say, since we haven’t seen it, but if you’re curious then you might want to check it out from the comfort of your own home.

From Lionsgate and director Eli Roth, the action flick has just been revealed to have a home video launch date, and it’s way sooner than basically anyone might’ve thought. Yes, that means this very month, which has to be a theater-to-home record for a major studio production.

The movie stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, and film legend Jamie Lee Curtis, and will be landing on digital to own and rent as of August 30th, 2024.

Lilith, an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the universe’s most powerful SOB. Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with Roland, a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis, the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap, a wiseass robot. Together, this ragtag team goes on a mission to save Tiny Tina, battle alien species, and discover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands — but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.

Lionsgate press release

As mentioned, Borderlands will be landing digitally on August 30th. Fans will be able to buy a copy of the movie via online storefronts for $24.99 USD, or alternatively rent it for $19.99 USD.
