Remember last year’s Silent Knight from DC Comics? Well there’s a five-issue sequel on the way, with Batman – Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns.
Ho, ho, ho
It’s about to go down this Christmas season, in the DC Universe. A new villain is rising, and the Justice League is nowhere to be found, as it’ll be up to Robin and Santa Claus (yes, that Santa Claus) to find out what’s going on, and turn the tide.
Does that sound like some kind of imaginary story? Well, if you think so you’re in somewhat decent company, since we couldn’t quite believe it either. And yet, this is more or less the tale that will play out across five issues of Batman – Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns.
“I was blown away at how well last year’s SILENT KNIGHT series was received, readers really responded to us going full tilt with Norse-mythos Santa in the DCU,” said Parker when asked for his thoughts about writing the holiday sequel. “We followed the old tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas (remember the line from ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’?). Then to be asked if I wanted to do another one AND have an extra issue? That was the Happy New Year.”
“The first SILENT KNIGHT series wasn’t quite what I expected, and I loved it for that,” said Ketner. “Jeff has an amazing ability to take an idea like a Batman & Santa team-up and play it straight with a great story, new DC lore, and a real threat. There’s humor of course, but it’s so much more effective when the stakes are real.”

That’s Jeff Parker and Lukas Ketner quoted there, who’ll be working on the book as the creative team. They’ll be telling a story that’s described as something that could have been a Halloween story as well, since it will include one of DC’s premier mages, Zatanna, and none other than the demon Etrigan.
In the five issues of Batman – Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns, horrors haunt the Christmas season as life-drained bodies litter the countryside, each marked with a strange symbol. The Justice League responds—but it’s a trap! The heroes are pulled from our world, but not before Batman helps Robin escape. Now Damian Wayne must seek out Zatanna and the one and only Santa Claus if there’s any hope of saving their friends and family.

All five issues of Batman – Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns will be hitting this Holiday Season, kicking off on November 27th, 2024. Expect an issue a week after that, with the final one dropping on Christmas Day, December 25th. Obviously pretty much all comics shops are closed on that day, but still, it’s kinda neat that that’s the official publication date.
