The Ghost with the Most is going to haunt theaters again soon, and Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is going big with IMAX as well.
Just don’t say it three times
Originally released way back in 1988, Beetlejuice was an instant classic. A horror/comedy starring actor Michael Keaton in the title role, the film featured a wicked spirit who specialized in ridding homes of the living. And while that may not have exactly worked out for the characters in that original film, it certainly worked for movie-goers, bringing the flick to a box office take of almost $75 million USD (on a budget of 15 mil). Back then, that was pretty darn good.
Fast-forward to the present year, and a long-awaited sequel is about to land in movie houses. This time the story centers not on actress Winona Ryder’s original character of Lydia Deetz, but her daughter (played by Jenna Ortega). Back in the classic house and in front of that old replica of the town, the younger Deetz unleashes the power of the spirit world, and there’s only one solution.
Lydia has to unleash Beetlejuice (who’s surprisingly is now being referred to as a “demon”) on the world once again.
Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning Beetlejuice.
After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
