Asymmetrical multiplayer title Predator: Hunting Grounds getting a fresh host of updates

Released in 2020, Illfonic’s Predator: Hunting Grounds isn’t done yet. Fans can expect both new ports, and a host of updates.

The hunt is (back) on

A creak of a high-up tree branch, a targeting laser, and finally a hunter fading into view as his cloak drops. That’s the moment that you’re pretty much done, with your head about to end up on the wall of a Yautja ship. It’s also the experience that Predator: Hunting Grounds was seeking to duplicate for fans, when it arrived on consoles and PC back in 2020 from Illfonic.

The developer has since moved onto the world of Ghostbusters (and Killer Clowns), but that’s not to say that the asymmetrical multiplayer action of Hunting Grounds has been forgotten. Actually it’s just the opposite, as the company has revealed that there are some big surprise updates on the way, which will come with a port to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via a team-up with 20th Century Games.

“This game has a strong, enthusiastic player base and a vocal community that wants to see the game updated and supported,” remarked Charles Brungardt, CEO of IllFonic. “Now that IllFonic is publishing games, we knew we had to get Predator: Hunting Grounds back. We knew we needed to get back to the Chopper!”

The newly revealed roadmap will lead fans through this year and into 2025, and will include not just ports to the current generation, but also new Preds and a load of improvements. The bulk of all of it will land this year too, kicking off next month.

What is coming to the jungle in 2024/2025 –

• April 2024: Patch 2.49 will cover the currently released PS4 and PC: Steam / Epic Predator: Hunting Grounds. The focus is on player movement, Fireteam weapon rework and balance, Predator weapon balance, and UX/playability improvements. More to come in the team’s patch notes.

• Late 2024 Release: Xbox Series X|S, PS5 Release: Predator is coming to Xbox. This release is focused on next-gen running on Unreal 4.27, Vivox, and Wwise, with a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition offered.

• Winter Release, 2024: New Predators

• Spring Release, 2025: More new Predators
