The remade Living Tribunal features on variant cover for G.O.D.S. #4

You just can’t keep a good Tribunal down, as the classic cosmic character will be returning for a Ron Lim variant for G.O.D.S. #4.

Just don’t expect him to look the same

Do you remember the leadup to Marvel’s new G.O.D.S. series, in which Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti were to revamp the power-structure of the Marvel U’s cosmic level? At the time, there was a lot of talk about the wholly original and retconned in ‘gods’ that would be gracing its pages.

But a big question, was what happened to the likes of Chaos and Order, Eternity, and The Living Tribunal? These classic cosmic-level forces of nature had been around for decades, and surely Hickman wouldn’t be leaving them out of a book devoted entirely to all-powerful beings, would he? Well no, as it turns out, he wouldn’t.

That old hierarchy has indeed started making its way into the new series, although you might not recognize them. Schiti has redesigned the lot for the modern age, and we’ve got our first look at what’s coming up for The Living Tribunal.

Courtesy of iconic Marvel artist Ron Lim, the Tribunal will feature on issue #4’s variant cover, as part of the running initiative that will last through issue #8. Adding a little extra cool-factor too, each cover pays homage to Lim’s own works from the 1994 “Cosmic Powers Series”.

“It’s so cool revisiting these covers after all these years,” Lim shared. “I remember how much fun I had working on them. Valerio Schiti’s new character designs are fantastic and it’s a blast drawing them on these homage covers!”
