The final Tekken 8 character revealed with the electrifying Reina

A new challenger for the Tekken series, Reina is on the hunt for Jin, and seems destined for a battle with Kazuya.

Purple ra… lightning

Bending arcs of purple (and red) lightning around her, the fast and precise martial artist called Reina is the last addition to the core Tekken 8 roster. She’s also a new character, though one with an interesting link to the legendary Mishima family.

Reina is a grad of Mishima Polytechnical School, but there’s more to this story. From what Bandai Namco is saying, and the look at her in action, it certainly seems as if there’s a greater link between her and both Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima.

TEKKEN™ 8 has revealed the final character in the game’s launch roster with the announcement of Reina, an all-new character coming to the legendary fighting game franchise. Nicknamed the “Purple Lightning,” Reina is known for using her lightning quick moves to overwhelm her opponents. She is surrounded by mystery as the only known fact about her is that she is a student at the Mishima Polytechnical School. She also seems to have a very particular interest in fighting Jin.

Bandai Namco press release

Reina’s announcement caps off that aforementioned list of playable fighters for Tekken 8’s release, and barring any eventual DLC, she brings the total to a chunky 32. Also as mentioned, she’s a part of a new trio of characters that also includes Azucena and Victor Chevalier.

Tekken 8 launches on January 26th, 2024, and you’ll be able to grab a copy for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you’d like to catch up on what’s been happening with the game in the meantime, you can click here for the official, info-loaded site.
