Castlevania leads the way for new 3 pack of Nintendo Switch Online games

Nintendo is greeting subscribers with a little extra Happy Halloween fun, with three new titles added to the Switch’s online catalog.

The Legends live on

We can’t say we’re overly familiar with any of the games that’ve just been added to the Nintendo Switch Online lineup, but really any games are good games if you’re a subscriber. And in this case, they’re a little extra-good, since they’re all kinda/sorta Halloween-y.

The most obvious of those is probably Castlevania Legends, which of course has a whole mess of ‘Halloween’ themes. First launched in 1998, the pea-green action of Legends takes the Belmont family-line back to the first to pick up the whip. That’s right, this is a prequel story, taking place before the first Castlevania on the NES and starring Sonia Belmont.

After that, there’s a double-dose of NES action with The Mysterious Murasame Castle and Devil World. Neither of those titles are exactly household names, but both sound kind of neat, and do fit with the theme of today.

NES

• DEVIL WORLD – One of Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka and Koji Kondo’s early Famicom games, now available for the first time in the U.S.! • The Mysterious Murasame Castle – A mysterious, villainous force has taken control of Murasame Castle in feudal Japan. Join Takamaru, a brave and young samurai apprentice, and use his sword and shuriken attacks against swarms of enemies on a journey to reveal the source of evil wreaking havoc across the land.

Game Boy

• Castlevania Legends – Storm Dracula’s castle and enter the heart of evil in this action-adventure game, released for the Game Boy system in 1998! Take up arms as Sonia Belmont – first of the legendary Vampire Hunters – and confront the Prince of Darkness in this adventure that takes place before the original Castlevania game. The history of Castlevania begins here!

All of the above are available today, for play on the Nintendo Switch, though again you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to take part.
