Not knocked over by the new collection? Well then you might want to take a look at the first footage of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Snake? Snake?! Oh okay, yeah that’s him
Let’s not mince words: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 is a little bit of a letdown for certain segments of the fandom. It’s fairly barebones for one thing, but it’s also not the greatest bump in respects to technicality that some might’ve wanted. But on the flip side, if you’re looking to just replay these action classics on new hardware and you don’t really care about stuff like frames per second, the volume would probably fit the bill.
All of that said though, there’s one new Metal Gear that’s bound to impress pretty much any fan of the long-lived series. And that, naturally, would be the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. A remake of the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from the PS2-era, Delta is looking frankly spectacular in the first real look at gameplay.
A trailer for that was released late yesterday by Konami, and it’s tough to get pumped over what was shown. In the footage, Snake makes his way through several jungle locales, and we got a really good look at the title in action.

As you can see there, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is shaping up to be a gorgeous game. Starring the man who would become Big Boss and spawn the titular saga, Snake Eater brings back a prequel tale with its retelling of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3. That game represented the very first adventure in the Metal Gear universe, taking place before the 1987 NES original.
From what we know of the remake, MGS3’s story will play out with little to no alteration. So if you loved the game that landed in 2004, you’ll probably find even more to like this time around. It’d be kind of hard not to, with the game’s new Unreal 5-powered graphics.
Unfortunately there’s no release date just yet for Konami’s Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but stay tuned. It’s starting to look like it’s shaping up, so you can probably expect it for consoles and the PC some time in 2024.
