A free addition, the Stadium Stampede match crashes AEW: Fight Forever

Just in time for an actual Stadium Stampede match in Wembly Stadium this Sunday, AEW: Fight Forever has a new update.

I got the golf cart

Just how common is it that a wrestling game gets an update like the Stadium Stampede? We’re not familiar with it ever happening, as new match types really don’t get added into existing titles all that often. And to get one added for free? That’s kind of unheard of.

Yet here we are, on the edge of the AEW: All In London pay-per-view, and that’s just what Fight Forever fans are getting. Revealed today is the launch trailer for the mode, which pits up to 30 wrestlers against one another in a massive, empty stadium.

According to THQ Nordic, the venue isn’t the only thing in the update. Players will find all-new weapons, and the ability to use vehicles like golf carts and horses.

“The concept for the first-ever Stadium Stampede match was created during the lockdown, where a display of professional wrestling bedlam like never before took place in an empty Jacksonville stadium and became a staple of AEW during the pandemic era. Now, this iconic five-on-five match returns on AEW ALL IN, the biggest night in professional wrestling history with the first-ever international Wembley Stadium Stampede in London this Sunday,” said AEW CEO, GM and Head of Creative Tony Khan. “AEW: Fight Forever will also bring the chaos of Stadium Stampede to gamers, incorporating the rapidly-surging popularity of open world multiplayer gaming with the unique gameplay we’ve developed in partnership with THQ and YUKE’s. This is just the first of many innovations we’ll make to AEW: Fight Forever to continue elevating the gaming experience for our fans around the world.”

THQ Nordic press release

AEW: Fight Forever is out now for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, as well as the Switch and the PC. Again too, the Stadium Stampede mode (and everything included) is included in the free update that’s out right now.
