Larian Studios’ biggest RPG ever, and one heck of a long-awaited sequel, Baldur’s Gate 3 is ready to adventure on the PC as of today.
Gelatinous Cube
Trapped within Early Access no longer, Baldur’s Gate 3 is officially ‘final’ for the PC. The gigantic turn-based role-playing game has been years in the making, and looks to set D&D fans up with the deepest trip through the realm yet.
Baldur’s Gate 3 features 12 playable classes and 11 races, complete with pre-made heroes and the ability to completely craft your own. On top of that, there’s also the Dark Urge, which is kind of a combination of the two previous options, letting players make their own hero, with a unique story and background.
You don’t have to quest alone either, if you’d rather party-up, as Baldur’s Gate 3 features 4-player online co-op. Considering just how big the threat to the Forgotten Realms is, you just might need all the help you can get.
“It’s hard to express how much love went into creating Baldur’s Gate 3. For over six years, more than 400 of us poured our hearts and souls into making this, helped by over 2.5 million early access players who spent countless hours giving us feedback.
The result is a beautiful, rich universe where you can escape from your daily worries, experience adventure and wonder, and have many, many cool and exciting encounters. It’s a place where your identity and choices matter, where surprise lies around every corner, and where your agency is truly rewarded.
I’m super proud of what our team accomplished, and I hope you will have an incredible amount of fun exploring what we prepared for you.”
Swen Vincke, Larian Studios director
With the PC launch in the bag (of holding), Larian will next turn to the PS5 edition. That’ll be out fairly soon as well, and is due in full on September 6th, 2023, though those who buy the PS5 Digital Deluxe Edition can be playing on the 3rd. A Mac version is also looking for a September launch, and there just might be some Baldur’s Gate 3 on the way for other platforms as well. There’s noting official as of yet though, with Larian saying “Additional platform support is TBD.”
