Layers of Fear (out now) paints a terrifying new picture in Unreal Engine 5

The “crowning work” of the series, Bloober Team and Anshar Studios’ all-encompassing new vision of Layers of Fear is finally here, in Unreal 5 glory.

A whole new Fear

Simply called “Layers of Fear”, this new remake of the horror anthology series from Bloober Team presents content known and unknown, in the stunning Unreal Engine 5. It’s a heck of a package deal too, since the new version of the game includes basically everything that’s seen release. And that’s plus some new content that serves to tie together events from the stories in The Writer.

Along with the new content, and as you can tell from the trailer, Layers of Fear (2023) includes some significant visual upgrades. Cast in Unreal Engine 5, the game sports all the trimmings with Ray Tracing, HDR, and 4K resolution.

As mentioned too, you get three tales in this game. The Painter, The Actor, and The Writer are all included, and all are tied together with some new core mechanics and added features. To that end, Bloober says that its “stories will blend seamlessly”.

Ready to dive back into first-person horror? Layers of Fear is available now for the PC, Apple “Silicon Mac”, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can grab the standard version, or the new Deluxe which includes “a digital artbook and soundtrack by Arek Reikowski”.

Both versions are on sale too. Actually, there are two sales, the first being if you’re a returning player who has either the original game or LoF2. If that fits you, then you’re in for a cool 30% off, as long as you buy the new version before June 29th. As for the second one, that’ll net new players only a 15% discount. You’ll have to make up your mind fast though, since the new player deal is good only for the week after launch.
