Filled with ghost-powered action and adventure, and some great looking graphics, 2D roguelike Death or Treat is out now for consoles and the PC.
Boo
Landing the same week as a certain Nintendo property might not have been the best, but now that it’s a bit later on, you might want to check out Death or Treat. A roguelike with what looks to be a ton of Halloweeny personality, DoT follows a specter called Scary.
It seems that some corporate ghouls have come to HallowTown, and they’re looking to more or less run Halloween into the ground. Scary just ain’t havin’ that though, and sets out to hack, slash, and otherwise battle for the soul of the undead holiday.
From Saona Studios and Perp Games, Death or Treat is a traditional 2D action title, but with that roguelike twist. So it should keep players on their toes through subsequent play-throughs.
As you can see too, it’s pretty fantastic looking. DoT has a unique look in the modern age, with what looks to be a nice hand-drawn effect to its design and animation. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s got that Halloween theme. That kind of lends itself to neat visuals.
If you’re up for a springtime scare, Death or Treat is out right now for the PS5 and PC. Xbox, Switch, and PS4 editions are on the way as well, and should be around in a few weeks.
