The 1st free DLC for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed brings Muncher, some ‘animated’ gear, and a new map

If you’ve played Illfonic’s Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, then you know it had a dearth of content. Well, that begins to be rectified as of right now.

Launched late last year, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is an asymmetric, (mainly) multiplayer action title. From Illfonic, the game plunks players into the roles of a new Buster, and picks up the story of the company right from the ending of the Afterlife film. On the flip side, it also allows for play as a ghost, setting players up to slime and possess their way to victory.

If all that sounds good, it is! But there was one big issue with the game, and that was a general lack of content. With only a handful of maps and a slim storyline, there just wasn’t that much to do. And since that was the case, it was a very welcome thing to hear about the post-launch plans for the title.

That robust series of free DLC drops will eventually add a bunch of new stuff, including maps, character-creation options, weapons/gear, and ghost types. It all starts right now too, with the arrival of The Facility.

Creep into The Facility, a condemned property recently purchased by a private investor group who have plans to renovate and reopen the facility. Ghostbusters must attempt to trap Glutton, the new Ghost type that comes with two additional variants — including the fan-favorite Muncher. Equip new character customization options, gear like the Belt Gizmo and Disruptor Pylon, along with improvements to bots and multiplayer matchmaking.

Illfonic press release

Yes, as you can see, it’s time to get animated. Spirits Unleashed has what looks to be a full selection of The Real Ghostbusters gear on tap, along with Afterlife’s Muncher ghost, and of course the new locale in The Facility.

The pack should be live as you’re reading this, and it is for all versions of Spirits Unleashed. All you need is a base copy, and you can hit that download.
