Top Gun: Maverick flying onto home video this month

One of the biggest movies ever, Tom Cruise’s blockbuster Top Gun sequel is arriving on digital formats this month, and physical disc in November.

Because I was inverted

In a pretty big way actually, Top Gun: Maverick inverted the movies here in 2022. For a while now, superhero flicks have been dominant at the cinema, but thanks to Paramount’s long-awaited sequel, that streak came to a crashing halt.

Is Top Gun: Maverick the movie event of the year? Yeah, it’s kind of not even arguable, with a global total that’s running past $1.3 billion USD and a second place return just this past weekend. That’d be 12 weeks into release, by the way. And now that monster is coming home.

While the film is still in theaters, Top Gun: Maverick is indeed landing on home video this month. That’ll be on August 23rd, via digital formats. This won’t be a vanilla copy either, as the digital edition of the movie will be packed with 110 minutes of bonus content.

The digital copy includes:

• Cleared For Take Off—Witness the most intense film training program as the cast prepare themselves for filming while pulling multiple G’s in a fighter plane.
• Breaking New Ground – Filming Top Gun: Maverick—Prepare to take flight as you go behind-the-scenes with the cast and crew of Top Gun: Maverick on a journey to capture the most spectacular aerial sequences ever!
• A Love Letter To Aviation—Tom Cruise shares his passion for aviation as he pilots his own aircraft, a vintage World War II P-51 Mustang, which would have been the Top Gun aircraft of its day.
• Forging The Darkstar—Pushing the limits beyond Mach-10, the future of aviation is unveiled through an impressive experimental aircraft specially designed for the movie.
• Masterclass with Tom Cruise – Cannes Film Festival—Tom Cruise discusses his incredible career at the flagship event of the 75^th Cannes Film Festival.
• “Hold My Hand” – Lady Gaga Music Video—Watch Lady Gaga’s music video for her standout lead single hit on the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack.

Then there are the physical discs

Of course, you’ll be able to pick up a physical copy of Top Gun: Maverick as well. It’s just that you’re going to have to wait for a while to get that one, with a launch date of November 1st. The movie will be coming to 4K Ultra HD, Blu Ray, and DVD (which will be just the movie).

The 4K Ultra will include the movie, plus a digital copy, plus ““Cleared For Take Off,” “Breaking New Ground – Filming Top Gun: Maverick,” “A Love Letter To Aviation,” “Forging The Darkstar,” “Masterclass with Tom Cruise – Cannes Film Festival,” and the two music videos”.

The standard Blu Ray will include the film and a digital copy as well, with ““Cleared For Take Off,” “Breaking New Ground – Filming Top Gun: Maverick,” “A Love Letter To Aviation,” “Forging The Darkstar,” and the two music videos.”
