Wondering if Cyberpunk will be going next-gen on Xbox? Not only will it be, but if you buy the Xbox One version, you’ll get the upgrade for free.

The Xbox Series X (or whatever it’s set to be called) doesn’t have a ton of games announced just yet. What there is has looked impressive though, with the likes of the Halo and Hellblade sequels. Now you can add one more to that list, in the form of a Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade.
CD Projekt Red has announced that their hugely anticipated action/role-player will be upgradable for play on the Series X. Yes, “upgradable”. No, that doesn’t include any more costs other than the original purchase price.
So if you buy the game and start playing on your Xbox One, then buy the Series X when that comes out, all you need to do is snag the free upgrade and keep on playing. That’s a pretty sweet deal, as gamers won’t have to buy another copy of the game just to have the “best” version.
Right now, it’s also a deal that seems to be Xbox exclusive. That could change of course, and we hope it does, as this would mark an incredibly consumer friendly initiative, if it took hold industry wide.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to see release on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC this September 17th.
