There are certain names in comics that hold serious weight, and John Byrne’s is one of them. He’ll be appearing exclusively at the IDW booth.
Byrning up Comic Con
Do you love comics? Marvel Comics specifically? Then you know writer and artist John Byrne, and more than likely are a big fan of his work. Byrne was a monster name within Marvel for decades after all, and has a stunning collection of Marvel tales to his name.
Though Byrne worked at both of the Big Two, he;s probably best known for his work on X-Men, She-Hulk, Fantastic Four, and of course Avengers. If you have ever wanted to get Byrne’s autograph on any of the above, or his newer work, then you’ll want to swing by IDW at NYCC in a few weeks.
Byrne will be exclusively appearing at IDW’s booth, $1844 on the show floor. He’ll be signing comics twice a day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, which is October 3rd through the 5th. Don’t worry, exact times are coming up, but they’ve yet to be revealed.
Why’s he at IDW’s booth and not Marvel or even DC? That’d be because of John Byrne’s Marvel Classics Artifact Edition. The new book from IDW recounts some of his best-loved work at Marvel, but will be published by IDW as a part of their line.
John Byrne’s Marvel Classics Artifact Edition is a 168-page masterpiece measuring 12” x 17”, with its wraparound
IDW press release
convention exclusive cover being the first-ever AE-style book to feature that cover style. Featuring Byrne’s work from The Avengers, Captain America, Marvel Team-Up, and more, this Artifact Edition includes six (6) pages reproduced from the artist’s pencils on the never-completed Captain America #257.
Autograph opportunities
Any IDW works that he’s done can be auto’d by Byrne at the show. So if you have some choice stuff, bring it. Be aware too, that if you buy the move mentioned tome, you’ll also be able to get 5 non-IDW pieces signed (free of additional charge). That, friends, presents some interesting opportunities.
So with that in mind, you might want to pre-order one for yourself. It isn’t cheap at $200 USD, but it’s undeniably cool. Just keep in mind that there’s no shipping on this one. So only pre-order if you’re going to be at NYCC.
