The creators of “I Am Setsuna” have announced their newest project “Lost Sphear,” a tale of restoring the world slated for an early 2018 release.
The Facts
Teased May 29 and officially revealed May 30, the Square Enix subsidiary released a gameplay trailer on Square Enix’s official sites for their new project. The game follows Kanata, a young boy who awakens to find that his home town is slowly disappearing. Enlisting the help of allies, he must restore the world and its inhabitants to their rightful state before all is lost.
The game is currently available for preorder on Square Enix’s official website for $49.99, with a preorder bonus of two of the game’s tracks offered as digital downloads. The game will be released in Fall 2017 on PS4 and Switch in Japan with the North American and European releases following in Early 2018. The PC version will release on Steam in the latter window.

While “I Am Setsuna” had its flaws, it was a nice preview of what was to come from Tokyo RPG Factory. Based on the aesthetic and tone of “Lost Sphear” so far, their finding a nice groove for their works and learning from their shortcomings in their first title. It will certainly be worth watching the news released on this new game in the months to come.
