The latest addition to the Bishoujo Statue line from collectible-maker Kotobukiya is a fem take on the Tim Burton horror/kitch classic Edward Scissorhands.
With characters from every corner of the pop culture landscape already having debuted in the line from Star Wars to Marvel and DC heroes, Bishoujo is pretty far reaching. As goes statue/collectible lines, it’s one of the most interesting out there too, with decidedly eastern-influenced translations of some of the most popular western figures from movies and comics.
And it’s branched out in the last year, with horror icons Freddy and Jason having met with a gender swap fairly recently. And now with Eddie here (Edith? Edina?) we get a third.
Dubbed simply ‘Edward Scissorhands’, the same title as the 1990 movie, this gender-swapped Johnny Depp character is looking appropriately tattered and ‘unfinished’ in figure form. Based on an original design by Shunya Yamashita, the piece is dressed in “a fantastically detailed black gothic-style outfit with tall boots, stockings, a short dress with shredded skirt, long gloves, and a choker at her neck.”
Standing in at a pretty impressive 9″ tall, Edward comes complete with a specially-themed base and will cost you $89.99 USD when she arrives in stores and online, which should be this coming November.
