Light the fires in Homefront: The Revolution’s ‘Ignite’ trailer

The occupied US has just about had enough of the invading North Korean forces in this latest trailer for Deep Silver’s Homefront sequel, which will be officially arriving this May.

Well that was appropriately stirring.

Homefront: The Revolution takes place in the post-invasion world established in the first game, where North Korea had taken advantage of a weakened US and moved in to dominate it militarily. As you might imagine, just because the US government has collapsed, that doesn’t mean that the people have.

Playing as Ethan Brady, you’ll take to the streets of The Revolution’s open-world as a freedom fighter looking to inspire your fellow citizens and “ignite” a full-on revolution. This all takes place in-game via the Hearts and Minds feature.

H&M tracks your acts of resistance, which includes taking down North Korean military checkpoints and installations around the occupied city of Philadelphia. The more places you knock over, the more Americans will rise up and fight, expanding the revolution and taking sectors of the city from “lockdown” to “open revolution”.

Clearing checkpoints in order to ‘free’ sections of the map has been done plenty of times in ope-world games before of course, though I do like the idea of open revolt being the aftermath of your actions. Hopefully that effect is front and center, and will directly affect the playing field in Homefront’s world.

As to when you’ll be able to play the next Homefront title, we finally have a firm release date for the long-awaited game. Hitting the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, Homefront: The Revolution will debut on May 17th in North America, and on the 20th in “all other territories”.
