E3 2014: Scorching new trailer for Dragon Age: Inquisition revealed by BioWare

Dragon Age fans eagerly awaiting the return of the series should be happy indeed with this newest look at the RPG from BioWare and EA.

A cataclysmic event plunges the land of Thedas into turmoil. Dragons darken the sky, casting a shadow of terror over the kingdom. Mages break into all-out war against the oppressive Templars. Nations rise against one another. It falls to you and your party of legendary heroes to restore order as you lead the Inquisition, hunting down the agents of chaos. Bonds will form – and some will break – as the campaign for truth takes its toll.

There’s a lot on Dragon Age: Inquisition’s plate. Powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, BioWare is promising a “vast, changeable world” for this newest installment of the RPG series, which makes me think that there will be events in the game where you can actually change the landscape through politics and alliances, which the game seems to be promoting pretty heavily. It could be a real evolution for the series, which casts you as the head of the Inquisition, trying to ferret out those who actively seek to destroy the kingdom.

Aside form the new gameplay elements, you’ll also be getting a massive dose of more standard RPG conventions in Inquisition. Players will get to “explore hidden caves, defeat truly monumental creatures, and shape the world around you based on your unique play style.” If you skipped out on DA2, it looks like this one should more than make up for it. Expect to see a lot more on this one.

Dragon Age: Inquisition singes the Xbox One/360, PS4/3, and PC on October 7th.
