The action in Sacred 3 is looking pretty wild

True this is only CGI, but the new ‘bridge’ trailer for the upcoming Sacred 3 makes the game look like a fairly intense action-fest, which isn’t exactly what I though it was going to be.

I’ve never really gotten into the Sacred series and only really played the recent released Sacred Citadel (which was a straightforward action title) and a bit of Sacred 2. For some reason though, I’ve always had the feeling that the games were action/RPG’s. That’s not what Sacred 3 is being made out to be from the latest release from Deep Silver though.

Set in the fantasy world of Ancaria, Sacred 3 is all about action and top-in-drop-out co-op play. Gamers can select from fan favorites like the Seraphim, Ancarian, Khukuhru and the Safiri, as well as the newcomer- Malakhim. Each character class has its own skills and weapons and can be upgraded as you play, so there are some RPG-ish elements here, but not too much as the action looks like it definitely takes center stage.

Remy van Leeuwen, Brand Manager of Deep Silver says that the goal for S3 was to create a true seamless experience between the online and offline play. So co-op was the actual core concept that Sacred 3 was developed around. At the same time though, the publisher didn’t want the long-running series to be gutted in terms of its lore and history. So bottom line, expect a Sacred title that plays a little differently than you might be used to and has more in the way of a social vibe to it, but also has all the Sacred background that you’d expect. It’s a reintroduction to the series really, and that’s kind of exciting speaking form the point of view of someone who’s not all that big of a fan.

Sacred 3 is on the way to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC later this year. Expect to see it arrive some time this Summer.
