Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within finally has a release date and it’s going to make for one hot capper to the Summer.
Coming out of Resident Evil creator Mikami’s mind and the group at Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within has done nothing short of captivated survival/horror fans since its announcement by Bethesda Softworks last year.
The game centers on Detective Sebastian Castellanos who sees a whole bunch of his fellow police officers wiped out in by… something. Knocked out, Castellanos wakes up to see that the works isn’t what he once knew and “hideous creatures wander among the dead”. Basically, if you’re a fan of Mikami’s work, you’re not going to want to miss this one.
The Evil Within kind of looks like a cross between the early Resident Evil titles and Silent Hill at this point, which is a merger that’s just fine by me- and I imagine most other fans of the genre too. We’ll be seeing much more on this one between now and the August 29th release date, when The Evil Within hits the Xbox One/360, PS4/3 and the PC.
