Dark Horse announces their newest hero – Skyman

Dark Horse Comics’ superhero universe continues to grow with a new hero from the pages of Captain Midnight.

Just announced at the Rose City Comic Con, Skyman will be a four-issue mini-series starring a character that actually hasn’t been seen yet. Skyman himself will debut in Captain Midnight #4 which’ll be hitting stands on October 30th… well, sort of. That Skyman won’t actually be the same Skyman that you’ll see when the first issue of his stand-alone book launches next year.

After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Captain Midnight, a drunken Skyman accidentally kills an innocent man! Turns out he’s not only an overly patriotic zealot; he’s also a dangerous PR nightmare. Needing a new face for their initiative ASAP, the Skyman Program turns to US Air Force Captain Eric Reid: a wounded veteran on the ropes, looking for a new lease on life. Reid must fight off his personal demons to have any chance of surviving the potentially deadly initiation.

When the Skyman Program plummets, Albright Industries brings in a new hero to make it soar!

The mini-series comes from the mind of Hale Fialkov with pencils by Manuel Garcia and will not only have ties to Captain Midnight, but also Brain Boy- Dark Horse’s mental powerhouse. Dark Horse getting into the superhero genre might be nothing new, but the publisher getting an actual series-spanning ‘universe’ going is. And putting a classic character like Captain Midnight at the forefront? That’s just cool.

Watch as Dark Horse Comics’ universe continues to evolve with Skyman #1 hitting stands on January 15th, 2014.
