Rayman Legends gets a Mario infusion for Wii U

The Wii U version of Ubisoft’s upcoming Rayman Legends will be getting a some special Mario and Luigi duds, as the new trailer (which is heavy on the GamePad integration) shows off.

The Mario and Luigi skins are a nice little tip of the cap to Nintendo fans who’ve been waiting for Rayman Legends since it was delayed earlier this year.As you see in the video, there’s actually quite a bit going on in the Wii U’s version of Legends that won’t be found elsewhere.

Following Rayman® Origins, our heroes take a 100-year nap, allowing nightmares to infest the Glade of Dreams. Once Rayman awakes from this mysterious sleep, he must set off on a new adventure with his friends to restore order in the universe. While traveling between five different worlds, players must defeat legendary enemies to save the Teenies from these evil villains. Rayman Legends features a wide range of gameplay, including traditional Rayman platforming action and new music rhythm-based stages. In Rayman Legends, a fifth player can join in on the fun by taking on the role of Murfy exclusively on the Nintendo Wii U™ GamePad controller. All of the game’s adventures can be played by up to five players on Nintendo Wii U™.

So it looks like that GamePad is going to get a workout with this one, which is probably music to Nintendo fans ears. Rayman Legends drops for the Wii U, Xbox 360, PC and PS3 on August 30th.

Oh wow…. didn’t know we’d be getting that. I should check this out.

  2. Honestly, I think this is the definitive version of the game just for the GamePad stuff- the suits are a nice bonus though 😉

It certainly seems like it is the definitive version. I like what they’ve done with the gamepad so far as well. Can you use it on your own as well? Or is that basically a multiplayer feature?

  4. Multiplayer- the dude with the GamePad becomes the ‘extra player’ and can do all the cool stuff 😉 You can use the GamePad for off-screen play though, which is something I forgot to mention.

Sounds great. Love when I’m given that option. It’s fun to play something while I’m at the computer working or just talking.
