Gauntlet: Slayer Edition slashes into the PS4 today

Available now, Gauntlet: Slayer Edition updates the most recent Gauntlet revamp for the PS4.

‘Player 1 needs food badly’ – and if that didn’t bring a fond memory of the original Gauntlet and its Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie and Elf characters to mind, well, then I don’t even know who you are anymore.

As a massive fan of the Gauntlet series and style of game, which you really don’t see all that often anymore, I’ve played just about every version of the four-player classic that there is. And while Gauntlet Legends is still my favorite of the bunch as of right now, I have to admit that I’m pretty interested to see what Gauntlet: Slayer Edition has cooking up.

From Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead Game Studios, this new version of what was one of the very first multiplayer co-op arcade games, is actually built off of the PC game that saw release last year. It’s just bumped up from that release with a bunch of new goodies. Here you’ll find: “new hero weapons and abilities, new monster types, and additional features that increase team dynamics and strategy, including spin attacks, shield throws, summoning, and magic abilities for the iconic characters, as well as a new, anticipated Endless gameplay mode”.

And if that’s not enough to get you to bite, maybe the daily ‘Colosseum’ challenges will. Then again, there are also new load out options for your character, additional uses for potions and relics, new customization options for your weapons, and “much more.” So basically, plenty to keep you occupied if you’re new to the series or a veteran of the franchise.

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is available now on the PSN and will cost you $19.99 USD.
