PAX Prime 2014: Deep Silver announces a pair of (mostly new) Saints Row titles

Those looking for a full-on fifth Saints Row title will have two new title to hold them over, a revisitation of Saints Row IV on next-gen consoles, and a trip to hell with Johnny Gat.

PAX has pretty much just kicked off and already Deep Silver is making sone news with their Saints Row franchise. And while neither of the games just announced are the Saints Row 5 that fans are waiting for, they’re not exactly chopped Zinyak either.

The company recently released a special combo pack of Metro titles, all spiffed up for next generation consoles, and now they’re doing the same for those bad boys on the Row. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is the same great title that you should have played on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC last year, but with a special coat of Xbox One/PS4 paint.

At least, we think. There isn’t a ton of info right now on what exactly the differences might or might not be between the last-gen version and the current-gen edition. Safe bet of course, would be on the full suite of DLC and new remastered graphics, which is honestly enough to get me interested.

Oh, and then there’s this.

There’s something poetic about the Saints going to hell that cannot be ignored. In this standalone expansion pack (meaning you don’t need a copy of SRIV to play), you’ll play as Johnny Gat or Kinzie as you follow the Pres into the afterworld to rescue him from the grasp of the devil himself- Satan. Only in a Saints game.

Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell looks like it takes place in the timeline as the last title in the series too (from that cutscene) and promises to set Gat and Kinzie up against all manner of monsters, demons, and “prominent historical figures”, which should be… interesting. Expect to see it be available for consoles of both the current and last generation variety, as well as the PC.

Look for all of this to hit retail/download services on January 27th in the US and on the 30th internationally
