Marvel announces Star Wars omnibus collecting the classic series

The original Star Wars comics get a rebirth as a part of the franchise’s return to Marvel.

It’s the return of the Jedi to Marvel in an opening volume that begins with Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and ends with Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. In between, the rebels face a wealth of new perils — from space pirate Crimson Jack to the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, as well as a surprisingly svelte Jabba the Hut (one “t”). Luke goes back to Tatooine, Leia battles alone, Han and Chewie play the deadly Big Game, and Darth Vader hunts for answers! Revisit all your old favorites and discover some new ones!

If you were a child of the late 70s or early 80s, then there’s little doubt that you were enamored with George Lucas’ action/adventure set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. There’s probably also little doubt that you read throughout the original run of Marvel Comics’ Star Wars books a couple hundred times. Sure they weren’t the most film accurate of things, but they definitely had the spirit and they carried the adventures of Luke, Han, and crew on in-between the films, which was pretty awesome and a fairly new idea at the time.

Now with the franchise return to Marvel from Dark Horse, you’ve got the chance to relive the early days of Star Wars with the Star Wars Omnibus. This massive 880 page hardcover book collects the entire 44 issue run of the comic as well as the the lone annual issue that saw release.

This is as complete and total a volume as you’re going to find and a pretty dang worthy addition  to any fan’s collection if I do say so myself.
