Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ‘story’ trailer details a very different CoD

Advanced Warfare might be the most unique and just plain different feeling Call of Duty yet.

It’s pretty standard for big developers to get to work with military experts and people from the various branches of the US armed forces these days. To get certain things right, you need the input from someone who actually knows instead of just going off of what’s written in a manual or ideal situations.

What’s not so typical though, is including futurists in that mix. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is pretty different in that, as you saw in the trailer, it includes contributions from both those who live the military life today, and those who dream of what it (and life in general) might be like tomorrow. If you keep up on all this kind of stuff (I try to), you can see all the tech that’s been talked about for years as coming down the line included in the game- including those exoskeletons that’ve popped up even in straight up sci-fi movies like Edge of Tomorrow and Elysium.

I’m also pretty happy to hear that developer Sledgehammer Games is casting the main character in the game as the focal point this time around. Not the ‘war’ or other characters around him and in his squad, but the guy that you actually play as in the campaign. Hopefully we’ll get a non-silent protagonist once again too, something that we haven’t seen since Black Ops.

It’s definitely shaping up to be a different Call of Duty than the games that most fans have come to expect these days, and thats a very good thing for not only the brand, but also for gamers who might be looking for a more unique experience out of their ‘military shooter’. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lands on the Xbox One/360, PS4/3, and PC this November the 4th.
