Frogwares already said that you’d be getting a way more ‘complete’ Holmes experience in the upcoming Crimes and Punishments and the new trailer shows you just what they mean by that.
With actual deduction as your tool in Crimes and Punishments, you’ll not only have to figure out who committed the crimes, but also what you do with that knowledge once you have it in hand. As you saw in the video, you can lock up the perp and follow the law, or choose to let him or her go. The developer also promises that each choice will have consequences later on in the game, which certainly sounds like each of the 7 cases will be linked in some way.
Oh, and if you’re thinking that deducing who the guilty party might be will be an easy task (or one that you can guess your way out of), you’d be wrong. And that’s because each case in the game will have an impressive 10 suspects for you to sleuth your way through. There’s a lot of ambition in this soft reboot and if it all comes off properly, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments could be the definitive Holmes experience that fans have been searching for.
Look for the game to hit the PC, Xbox 360 and PS4/3 in the second quarter of 2014.
