Nintendo to keep Switch 2 pricing the same, reveals new pre-order date

The Switch 2 is back on track, as Nintendo has announced both the price (it’s the same) and new date for when you’ll be able to order.

Switching things

If you’re unaware, the US has instituted a new tariff system, mainly resulting in reciprocal tariffs. So instead of offering diminished or no tariffs on goods from foreign countries, the States will be matching what those countries have levied on it. Maybe. Though that was the original plan, though it’s since been paused as the world’s countries work out individual trade deals with its biggest consumer market. That’t to say except for China, though we’ve seen rumblings on social media that might also be in the offing.

Caught up in the whole mess though, was the pre-order date for Nintendo’s Switch 2 console. Originally planned for earlier this month, pre-ordering had been paused, presumably to allow for the company to figure out what it’d be doing with pricing and availability. And if you’ve been waiting to see how that shakes out, your time is coming up fast.

Today Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 would be once again heading to the pre-order phase, and in just a few days, on April 24th. Even better (or not, depending on where you stand) is that the price of the console will remain unchanged, clocking it in at $449.99 USD for the base model, and $499.99 USD for the bundle pack (with a digital copy of Mario Kart World).

Speaking of games, Nintendo’s first-party titles that include the aforementioned and Donkey Kong’s newest adventure will also not be altered. That’s to mean that Mario Kart World will be priced in at $79.99 USD, and Donkey Kong Bananza will be $69.99 USD. That’s the ‘good’ news, while the not-so good news is that there are in fact some changes coming. Namely, those will be where it involves accessories and peripherals.

Seemingly all of the items announced (other than the games and console, that is) revealed last month will be getting a price bump. We’re not talking about huge increases, but for example, a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will now cost you $54.99 USD and a Pro Controller will be priced at $84.99 USD.

You can read through all the updated prices here on Nintendo’s site. But other than that, the Switch 2 is still en route to shops for a June 5th launch, and you’ll be able to secure yours in just a few days.
