The Joe team is back, and ready to lay the smack down on Cobra in Maple Powered Games’ beat ’em up G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra.
COBRAAAAAAAA
After years (decades really) of having no video game representation, G.I. Joe is here… well, the military strike force is almost here anyway. Joining the resurgent toy line that is G.I. Joe Classified, is G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, an arcade styled beat ’em up from indie platform indie.io and developer Maple Powered Games.
The action title offers multiple Joes to play as, with Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Gung-ho, and Roadblock all being selectable. On the flip side, it’s also got what looks like a deep roster of villainous Cobra agents to take on. Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Destro, Zartan, and Baroness are all included, plus tons of cool nods to some of the greatest Joe locations and vehicles from the classic toy line and cartoon.
“G.I. JOE: WRATH OF COBRA is made by a team of superfans who worked tirelessly to authentically pay homage to one of the greatest series of all time.” said Kerry Vandenberg, co-founder of Maple Powered Games. “Each element, from the art to the cutscenes, to the music, has been inspired by the classic line of action figures and the Real American Hero versions of the iconic franchise. Our team plans to keep supporting the game post-launch with a selection of free content and additions. With a franchise as massive as this the sky’s the limit.”

Suit up Joes, G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is out next week, on September 26th, for the PC via Steam. It’s not going to stay there though, as the ones will be moving out some time soon, and onto the Epic Game Store, GOG, and Switch, plus current Xbox and PlayStation platforms. We don’t have a release date for those editions, but it sounds like you can expect to see them land before the end of the year.
