Absent from Valve’s storefront thus far, zombie-smashing action title Dead Island 2 is now on the way, and you can snag Riptide for free.
Fun in the rotten sun
Released last year, the undead-filled sequel that is Dead Island 2 was a long time coming. For the most part, it seemed as though Deep Silver Dambuster Studios hit the nail on the head with it, serving up a bigger and better looking game, set in the midst of a zombie outbreak in the rotting heart of California.
One thing that it decidedly lacked though, was a Steam release. The biggest and arguably best-adopted PC gaming platform, Valve’s Steam was left out of the game’s launch plans, though that’s about to be rectified in fine fashion.
Publisher PLAION announced today that the title would be appearing on Steam, hitting the platform on April 22nd. And while this will be the same version that’s out now for the Xbox and PlayStation, there are some celebratory bonuses that fans can grab right now.
Chief among those is a free copy of Dead Island: Riptide. A kind of ‘Dead Island 1.5’, Riptide was released shortly after the first game, and features a completely new story and fresh locations to play through. You’ll be able to claim that gratis edition of the game from now until February 15th. Yes, that’s a short window, so if you want a copy, go get it.
On top of that, the Dead Island Steam page has a hefty 75% off listed for Dead Island: Retro Revenge, the classically styled spinoff. It’s not the greatest game in the world, but for a quarter of the price, maybe it might help scratch that zombie itch.
