Crash Team Rumble rocks and rolls with a beta this April, full release in June

Bandicoot-fueled, 4 on 4, team based multiplayer action is almost here, as Activision’s Crash Team Rumble is set to come home soon.

Teamwork makes the dream work

Not announced all that long ago, Activision’s next take on the Crash Bandicoot license will be pretty different from what’s come before. It’s not a 3D platformer, nor is it a kart racer. Instead, it’s a multiplayer team-battler.

Featuring 4 vs 4 action, the game will play out not unlike a game of capture the flag. Of course, it’s a game of CtF with a decidedly “Crash” twist or two.

In Crash Team Rumble, fans can play from a roster of friends and frenemies from the Crash universe, each of which fall into one of the three roles – Blocker, Booster, or Scorer. Teams strategically utilize the different roles to work together to be the first to bank the most Wumpa fruit in their drop-off zone, while simultaneously defending their opponent team’s drop zone. Unique Relic Powers bring an additional strategic element to the game, which squadmates can use to gain the upper hand when scoring, leading their team to victory. Crash Team Rumble features cross-platform play**, allowing players across multiple consoles to squad up and jump into the competition.

Can’t wait? Catch the beta

Now, if you’re keen for some of that multiplayer Crash action, then you might want to grab an invite for the beta too. That’s coming up soon, like ‘next month’ soon.

According to Activision, Crash Team Rumble’s closed beta will begin on April 20th, and run through the 24th. So you get a pretty heavy dose of Crashing action, and the length of time will give developer Toys for Bob the chance to fine tune anything for the actual launch.

It’s also pretty easy for fans to get in on, as all they have to do is pre-order a copy of it. You might want to do that anyway, since the game’s release is coming up fast, with the game landing on June 20th.
