E3 2021: Breath of the Wild sequel showcases a stunning new world

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will indeed have a sequel coming, we already knew that. But the first tease of the game is a jaw-dropping one.

A world in the sky

There are a lot of familiar themes running around in the trailer for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Before we get int that though, no, there isn’t an actual title yet for the game. But the last of a title is almost besides the point. That’s because there’s just so much to like and get excited for in this first look at the game.

For one thing, there’s a whole new world to explore. No, not in terms of Hyrule, that seems to be more or less where it was left in the first Breath of the Wild. But nevertheless, there’s so much more to it now.

All you have to do is look up.

I am no fan of Breath of the Wild. Yes, I know you’re shocked and angered to no end, but the game strayed way too far from the traditional Zelda model. At least, it did for this old school fan. But with that in mind, even I have to admit that this looks stunning.

The Breath of the Wild sequel seems like it’ll take an already massive world and maybe even double it in scope. That’d be an astounding feat for the Switch, and one that will add in all that aerial gameplay too. Almost makes you wonder if we’ll be hearten about the fabled Switch Pro (or whatever) some time soon…

While that’s still in the realm of myth and legend, the sequel to Breath of the Wild is most definitely on the way. Expect it some time next year.
