Women of Dynamite: Dejah Thoris Diorama Statue heading to retail

One of Dynamite Comics’ most prominent female characters is getting the diorama treatment. J. Scott Campbell’s iconic Deja Thoris art is arriving in stores soon.

Princess of Mars

“Steve Kiwis has done a great job of bringing J. Scott Campbell’s Dejah Thoris to life,” says Jim Sullos, President of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. “His work really embodies Edgar Rice Burroughs’ heroine. We are fortunate to have top industry talents contributing to Mr. Burroughs’ legacy.”

Burroughs of course, is the legendary creator of not just Thoris. He also built her John Carter of Mars world, and Tarzan. That’s quite a catalog. One that’s only gotten more popular since the early days of the 20th century when it was first published. The man’s properties have been carried on by all forms of media since.

That includes some movies yes, but also comics, thanks to Dynamite. Actually, I think it’d be pretty fair to say that the comics have done a much better job of that than the films. Probably more than fair.

Now the publisher is moving the popular Princess of Mars to the third dimension with a diorama statue. And it’s an impressive one.

Sculpted by Steve Kiwis of Rvckvs International, the Women of Dynamite: Dejah Thoris Diorama Statue is inspired by Campbell’s cover to the seminal 2010 Warlord of Mars #1 comic book. Measuring approximately 8.75″ in height, with a base measuring 9″ by 6.5″, this cold-cast resin statue comes with gold-colored micro-link metal chain details. This highly-detailed masterpiece in three dimensions ships in a full-color display box with a Certificate of Authenticity, individually numbered as part of a limited edition run.

As mentioned too, this piece is sculpted to look like artist J. Scott Campbell’s depiction of the character.

Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment, says, “The exotic beauty of Dejah Thoris – the original heroine of sci-fi/fantasy – will steal your breath away with this piece marvelously sculpted by Steve Kiwis, translated from the printed page as illustrated by my good pal, J. Scott. Our Women of Dynamite line of statues has turned quite a few heads since our debut Vampirella statue back in 2015, and frankly, the creative team at Rvckvs International keeps upping the ante with each release. Collectors, rejoice!”

As for when you’ll be able to add the Princess too your collection, the release date is still a little ways off.  Deja Thoris arrives this coming January.
